How I make your pictures sharper:
I don't want to give you the impression I can make a blurry picture clear. I can't and no one else can either. I sharpen pictures by brightening and balancing the colors. I then smooth out speckled areas (remove the speckles). This process turns a dull, speckled picture into a smoother, sharper image. Blurriness become less apparent as a result. I'll tell you what you can expect from the sharpening process when I give you a cost quote. Sharpening pictures isn't expensive and is well worth the cost. I'll tell you if I can't improve your picture.
Sharpening pictures is not the same as making them print ready for large prints.
I often get requests to have pictures about the size of those below sharpened so that clear, sharp, large prints such as 8x10's can be made from them. Sharpening an image is not the same as enlarging pictures for prints. Pictures must be taken and saved in a very high pixel and resolution format in order to make large prints. For example, the pictures below are about 300 x 400 pixels in size. An 8x10 print requires a minimum digital picture size of 2048 x 2560 pixels. That means the pictures below would have to be enlarged by a multiple of at least 6 to make 8x10 prints from them. There is no way this can be done and get clear, sharp 8x10 prints from them. In fact, just doubling the size of the pictures below will result in their being blurry because each pixel is doubled without being color adjusted to blend with the pixels around them. There is no way of getting around this. All the sharpening in the world will not make them any less blurry when enlarged enough to make large prints.
Generally speaking, pictures found on the Internet are not large enough to make good large prints. A good rule of thumb is a full sized picture as seen on your computer screen will make a good print that is about 1/3rd it's screen size.
